As fighting to recapture entered its fourth day, Peshmerga forces captured ISIS fighters trying to flee the fight disguised as women.

The Iraqi offensive to retake began on the first day with  the taking of nine villages , mostly by the Kurdish Peshmerga forces.

“The Iraqi army, not the Peshmerga, are trying to advance into [Hamdaniya]. They tried to storm the area yesterday, but were forced to retreat,” said Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr, reporting from Khazir near the frontline.

Huner M Rwandizy, who left to join the fight in Mosul at the end of September, said “These are Daish [ISIS] dressed in women’s clothes, to save their pathetic lives. Peshmerga saw right through their lies. They don’t have any chance in hell to get their virgins.”

Major General Gary Volesky, of the US Army, who heads the anti-IS coalition’s land component, said ISIS commanders are ‘fleeing the city’ ahead of ‘multiple assaults’ planned for Thursday.

An Iraqi news organization, Al Sumaria, reported that ISIS has been evacuating the wives of the leaders of ISIS.  These man may have been attempting to disguise themselves while evacuating with these women.

Army General Joseph Votel, commander of U.S. Central Command, said the battle could last ‘for months’.
